Went to Within Temptation and Evanescence Show at O2.
Getting there was easy. Just stick with middleaged people with purple hair.
Getting inside was also fast. Security scans are only if you have a bag.
There’s a strange fog inside. Not sure what it is. Probably some way to cool the air. It was rather cold inside. Maybe for those standing it wasn’t, though. Don’t envy them. I was sitting comfortably, with a seat to my left vacant.
When they turn the flamethrowers, though, you feel the heat on your face. And I was sitting at the 20th row or something. Can’t imagine how that feels on stage.
There were people in their fifties or even sixties. I hope I’ll be one of them some day.
Door opening was at 18:00 and “even start” at 18:30. The actual concert started at 19:00 sharp.
Veridia played for 30 minutes. Then there was break to prepare the stage for another 30 minutes.
Then Within Temptation came on stage. I never expected to see Sharon in life. It was a surprise that there were songs from all albums. I expected them to put emphasis on the last one. “Faster”, “What About Us”, “Supernova”, “What Have You Done”, “Stand My Ground”, “Angels”. I knew all of them, except the ones from the latest album. And don’t remember the ones from “Mother Earth” and “Enter”, their first two albums.
Sharon sounded amazing even with a bad cold. During “Raise your Banner” she brought an Ukrainian flag, which was awesome.
After an hour of Within Temptation, there was 45 minutes break, and then Evanescense started. I like the first albums, but not the last ones. “Going Under” was still great. Also, the guitarist from Sick Puppies is amazing.
But at some point I decided to leave, since I’m not enjoying it enough, and all those people will soon have to go to the underground too. Still, seeing and hearing Within Temptation was absolutely worth it.
