Modern Japanese anime is strange to me, because it’s mostly based on D&D concepts nowadays. Here we have a aloof elven mage who struggles to understand value of time, being able to live for a thousand years.
She basically retraces the steps of her party from 80 years ago, most of which has either died of old age, or in case of a dwarf, too old to travel, with her teenage human apprentice.
It’s not even so much monster hunting tasks, as using levitate to gather pumpkins or clear a cove from shipwrecks for locals to have a festival and celebrate sunrise.
