MiniDisc

Probably because I watch a lot of retro console mods and repairs videos, I stumbled upon a MiniDisc repair one.

Wait, what’s a minidisc? I thought those are just smaller CD-ROMs in a rectangular case, maybe?
Turns out, it’s more of a HDD, but with a single disc instead of multiple ones. Magnetic, and so rewritable, and with a cache onboard (so it wasn’t just a plastic case), that protected from skipping.

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen one. But then I was never big on music in the first place.
Still, an interesting piece of retro technology.
