Like many other sandboxes, Far Cry 6 can’t decide what it wants to be. Either you can singlehandedly hijack a Soviet tank, jump from 50m only to open a parachute and a wingsuit, and if you venture into a zone too early, enemies there would withstand multiple headshots from a sniper rifle. Also, you have a backpack that shoots homing rockets that are able to blow both tanks and helicopters.
But then the story is this family feuds and serious sacrifices. At least they still have the ability to kill off characters.
Also, there is counter narrative, it wouldn’t be Far Cry without it. Castillo mentions that 80% of his soldiers come from farmer families, not a fact for cartoonish tyrant. And Alejandro tells her sister that she is a guerilla just because she thinks it’s all a game.

I thought it decided to be a ‘generic ubisoft game with cloned outposts’
Not exactly.
My impression is that Far Cry authors always had innovative ideas, but in order to afford them they had to dillute the gameplay with repetitive bullshit Ubisoft pushed.

Didn’t play far cry 6, but was surprised how innovative was fishing in far cry 5!
otherwise it was a 100% clone of ghost recon wildlands.
Taking Far Cry 5 as an example, you had the opening (where you could just walk away and finish the game), you had the ending (the antagonist wasn’t crazy and right all along), and the brainwashing episode.
But in between were I don’t know how many hours of “fishing” fillers.

I do not really understand why it even exists. Like if you choose to do it you have extra ending and have to instantly restart to actually begin to play.
for me it 100% useless gimmick, but okay.

Have no idea, I dropped after 3 of 4 zones I believe. I could finish the game if I wouldn’t kill all sub-bosses in each region, I decided to do it and got bored after 3 or 4.
I liked bunker mission a lot though.
